Goddess Garbharakshambigai is a popular form of Shakthi (Durga/Parvati) in Tamilnadu. She is believed to be the Goddess responsible for uterus related disorders and pregnancy. People who are not married for a long time and Women who are childless or who had pregnancy problem can visit Garbarakshambigai temple and pray for favours.
Sri Garbharakshambigai temple is located in Thirukarugavur on the banks of the river Vettar, a tributory of the Sacred river Cauvery, in the Papanasam Taluk of Thanjavur District. This is 20 kilometers east of
Thanjavur Town and at 20 kilometers South west of Kumbakonam in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
The name of the goddess itself carries a beautiful meaning. Garbha means “Pregnancy”, Raksha means “Protect” and Ambika is one of the names of Parvati devi. So the Goddess is all about protecting a women’s life blessing her with a good husband, a good child and a happy family.
